My partner and i got our 1st beardie 2 days ago, he's settling in really well and eating quite well too!
Just a few questions as a new owner, is it true that meal worms are really bad for babies? He is about 5.5inchs long so I think he’s about 7weeks old? Would this seem about right? How long should you keep him out of his tank at a time? Im getting him used to me by handling him several times daily, but I’m afraid of keeping him out of the UV’s for too long!
Also, how do you upload your beardie picture on the site? (the picture which goes by your name in posts etc!)
Just a post to say hi and welcome ....Glad to hear your BD is eating well and settling in nicely. I can't help too much on your question about age/length, mealworms, etc. because I am pretty new to beardies too. Until a more experinced member can answer your questions maybe try the search feature at the top of the screen and type in keywords like "mealworms" and you migt get some info there. Reading through some of the older posts has helped me learn alot.
Again, sorry I can't help much...just a post to say Welcome.
Mealworms are very bad they have little value and can cause compaction easy and very easy in a baby.... Welcome and the pic you want is an avatar I am not sure how to do it but thats what its called you can look that up. Taking him/her out for a bit a few times a day will not keep him/her out of the light to long as long as he/she is ok being so young and new they stress easy.
Agreed. No mealworms. Ever. SMALL (pinhead) crickets and veggies should be just fine. The crickets should fit in the space between the eyes. Don't forget the supplements. Here is a page that tells you what is ok to feed beardies. http://www.beautifuldragons.503xtreme.com/Nutrition.html
I use photobucket. Easy.
Good luck with your new baby!
