Was this shedding ok?

Hello, I saw my bearded dragons tail tip looked a little wonky and shedding felt lose. I was touching her tail tip pretty gently when part of it just came off. I removed the left over shedding and her tail tip seems normal. But it is weird because her tail tip is shorter than it was before. And at first it looked like it completely ripped off is that ok? The 4th picture is how her tail looks now. The 5th is how it looked before she shed it.

Also when I look into the part of the shedding that looks like her tail tip fell off it seems to have black and grey in it. And a lot of it is hard. But, her tail looks completely normal now so I’m not sure why it shed like that.

Also, the black I see looks very similar to his fingernails. And hard like it.

The tip died - I would get some unpasteurized honey on it and watch for more black to appear if it does - the honey will kill any infection going on but you do not want more black and for it to keep moving up the tail - I am gonna have AHBD take a look at it

I have unpasteurized honey so I just put that on her. Can I just keep it on her all day? Do you know why the tip would die? I don’t think she has ever injured it. Is there black on her tail? I don’t see any

I see a indent and yes keep the honey on it just dip the tail in it - but no crickets in the tank please -- I see dried out it looks like straw w/ a little black - the whole tip will get black all the way around if its infected - I want ahbd to take a look at it

Hello, thank you for answering my questions. If you don’t mind would you be able to clarify one sentence. I’m just a little confused with what “ I see dried out it looks like straw w/ a little black” means. Is this referring to her tail tip on her whole tail right now? Or the piece that fell off?

Hello,

Sometimes the tail tips tend to retain shed & that can cause the tissue to die off if the skin constricted
the tail too much. The rest of the tail looks fine & doesn't appear to have any infection going on.

How many days does the honey go on for?

Once is fine, itll stay on because of its consistency. If you want to reapply after a bath, thats fine. Of course, if it starts looking infected (redness, drainage, bleeding), post back on here and @Drache613 can give you more info..she is a vet tech. Also, @AHBD has a lot of experience with using honey and tail issues.

Hello,

The raw honey can go on once or twice a day. Just be mindful of leaving any type of insect around so
that they aren't attracted to the honey. You can wash it off at any time, let it breathe for awhile & then
reapply before bedtime if desired.

Do I do the honey only for one day? Or do I keep putting it on for a week or two. Also, is there anything I should do to prevent this from happening again? Thank you!
