I am new to this forum! I had Anolies many years ago so when my daughter asked for a lizard for her birthday that is what came to mind because it was familiar to me. After a visit to the local Petsmart to show her what an Anolie was, we found baby Beardies and decided after some research that is what we wanted. There is a much smaller pet store near my home where I get my Chinchilla food and the staff in there are all true animal lovers and the animals are very very well cared for and one of the staff has a full grown Beardie herself so is a wealth of information for me. I went in there to see what they had and I found WALTER! He is a 7 month old Beardie who no one has wanted to buy because he is not a tiny baby. I fell in love with him instantly and put a deposit on him and have been spending the last 2 weeks studying and gathering information and all of the supplies needed to bring him home to the perfectly set up home. WALTER comes home tomorrow to his 4' long x 2' Wide X 2' Terrarium and I am more excited then my daughter is! I will post some pictures soon!
Also, I wanted to thank everyone on this site for sharing information and experiences as it has helped me to prepare a perfect new home for WALTER!
I am tickled beyond belief! We picked up Walter this evening and he seems to love us and his new home! I put him in his huge terrarium and he ran around and watched us eat diner like he wanted to join us. He sits still and lets the kids and I pet him, ate several crickets (though he does not seem to want his Kale salad that I made him...LOL! I dont blame him...YUK!)
I thought it was normal for Beardies to act wierd when they go to a new home? Not our Walter, he fits right in and seems happy! He even went swimming in his pool a few times too!
That's great you got him home! you will have so much fun with him! My rexie is sitting here watching me type and always pays attention when she see pics of other beardies! so get some pics up soon!
I am going to try to post some pictures in this message, hopefully it works! The picture where he is staring out the glass, he stayed that way the entire time we ate diner last night, he just sat and watched us...it was too cute like he wanted to come sit with us! And you can see in the one where he is in his pool as I call it (not really a water dish, its huge...lol!) his hind legs are shedding though his back and head are finished.
I think he has beautiful colours! Hope you enjoy the pictures, sorry they are a bit fuzzy but I took them with my blackberry!
