So I am slowly getting ready to upgrade my girl to a much bigger viv, but have a couple questions. First, at what size would you suggest we upgrade? She is currently about 8 inches long and about 9 weeks old (best guess). We've got her in a 20 long right now, but I absolutely loathe the light setup and am just itching to get a big custom with built in lights. Furthermore, I was wondering what size vivs you all have or prefer to keep your beardies in? I was leaning towards a 60 because I want her to have tons of space and live in the lap of luxury! And last, do you guys have some good recommendations on brands, types, materials, etc, for the viv? Just looking for some good advice to base my decision on seeing as I will probably be paying an arm and a leg for this thing haha.
I'd build one as big as you can really. If you can provide multiple zones for basking and hiding with different UV levels and temperature levels it will allow her to easily self regulate and get what she needs. You can probably get started on it as soon as you want. I'm sure she'd be happy with more space to roam around and climb. A lot of people use melamine as a cheap-ish building material. You could also use hardwood or convert a big dresser or similar. I suggest checking out Taterbug's page about lighting to give you some ideas on how to arrange your lighting and setup. https://sites.google.com/site/thelizardmadness/photogradient
Here is a guide for building the popular crossfire enclosure. You could build it differently and build it larger if you'd like. The guide may have some construction ideas that may be helpful though https://beardies.dreamwidth.org/2145.html
