Im still in my research stage but soon(2-3months) I will be getting my bearded dragon, baby or adult not sure yet,
Im just wondering whats the biggest viv I can make for my future dragon,
My girlfriend sisters boyfriend Is very good with making things out of wood. And just wondering in feet whats the biggest viv I can make that Is not too big or small and my dragon will be happy and healthy in it.
How ever monsterous you want it! HAHA just make sure it is roughly 48x24x24 as a minimum. If your getting a baby you will want to section it off for him though and expand it as he grows.
Mine is 8 feet by 3 feet by 3 feet and it came with a stand plus I added extra vents. The viv alone is seen here in white (I have gold oak) http://www.customcages.com/index.cfm?do=detail&productid=44. It was the largest I could swing without going to Cages by Design where they make gorgeous vivs but with hefty price tags. Building one myself was not an option. I love the viv I purchased but will admit the 3 foot height makes lighting and heat a challenge. I admit that I did not section it off for my 6 week old and he did fine but this may not work for everyone. My thinking was that they are not "confined" in nature so why wouldn't he thrive in a somewhat bigger space. However, I did avoid providing hides when he was very young.
There is no such thing as a too big enclosure for beardies. They will probably just enjoy the extra space.

Nice! Great to see someone getting a large enclosure for a beardie. I get sad by looking at the "Viv pics only thread" because of all the tiny enclosures people put their lizards in.
Current cage before all set up.. Got repticarpet, hammock and log in there now.
New cage Im getting tomorrow from someone off craiglist. 50x30x24 Im so excited for Mushu to get his new home. This is the picture that was posted on craiglist ad.

Yes I dont want a small viv, I would like to try and make it big but not to big for him not to like it..
I have a spare bed room that will not ever be used so just wondering if something like 8ft long, 3ft wide and probs about 4ft high,
But will that be to big? If not then thats something I will try and work on, I know its goin be hard cleanin it and keeping it fresh!! But its something I will enjoy doing..
