Wow, that's beautiful... Did you make this yourself? If so, can you share how you did this? I'm looking to have my Papa help me make one because my little guy is getting too big for the 50 gal. tank I have him in, he needs more room - Please share if you wouldn't mind... Thanks
Hey - I didn't actually build the whole thing from stratch - just decoration - the tiles and sticks etc. Are you meaning your planning to build one from scratch?

It's the link I used to build mine, it's like enclsoures for dummies LOL It has step by step instructions and a list of all materials you need. Including glass mine cost me about $200 to build BOTH. Only thing I didn't have to buy was the maple trim (my father already had some I could use, but you can find low cost trim). All my mats were bought at Canadian Tire, Home Depot and Rona.
Love it. I'm a big fan of 'simple' myself. Just out of curiousity, what wattage are your white bulbs? Helping a friend with wattage issues in a high tank, like yours.
The white heat lights are 75 watts, I had 100 watts in my old enclosure (with a screen top) but this one is more boxed up and it hit 130 in the hot end *gasp* of course I checked my temps before I stuck my little guys in there and had to drop to a 75. The night buld is a 50 watt but I don't need it yet. It alone keeps that end at 80 (just to give u an idea what a 50 watt will do). The enclosures are your basic 4x2x2 and those provide plenty of heat, my basking area is around 105.

Oh alright, thank you. My friend has a fish tank, so its higher than the average reptile tank.
My tank is a 90 gallon fish tank, so its higher than the average 75gallon, but I use a 100watt white, for basking in conjuction with a dimmer switch, and its only 13" away from the log. In the fall, spring, and winter I maintain a basking of 103-108F, but in the summer, I switch it out with a 75 watt being that I live on the third floor with the summer sun It's hot enough as it is in here in the summer time!

Thanks! I built it. Took me a couple weeks to get it just right. I had a second level but I couldn't get the temps right so I just rip it out and started over. Honestly I was surprise how much cheaper it was to build it over buying one. hardest part was picking out a background lol.
