Just want to share this info. I think they are better than tiles with the same texture.
Added rough vinyl tiles today from a Local Hardware store, I was going to add real tiles (i have them already from a friend for free) but since I have a glass viv, I don't want to risk breaking the enclosure when cleaning. Vinyl tiles are just as easy to clean yet good enough for my dragons to walk/run/jolt on and at least it grinds their nails as well. If I need to clean them, they are as light as rubber tiles :-D Will post pics tomorrow.
No more dirty newspapers :-D
I also plan to add an absorption mat under the water bowl for any spills. I saw one in TRUE VALUE, they are really made for doggy bowls but I think that should do the trick!
I have heard that vinyl tiles put out fumes when exposed to heat, you might want to check & see first, before you put them in your viv.Better safe than sorry

Really ok I will double check, I was thinking that they would put out fumes if I stuck them with glue or a certain type of adhesive but I placed them loosely on top of the glass bottom. All this type of rough vinyl has a top rough surface different from those I have seen.
Those are cool looking! I would kind of "bake" them under the lamp for a while give a wiff and if you don't smell anything, go for it. If you do, maybe do this longer and then give another wiff say in a day. . .

So far no smell coming out. Do you think most of the fumes that people have been experiencing are from the adhesive they used? These ones are just layed on. No adhesive.
What you smell is the phermaldehide (sp?) that all plastics/vinyls outgas from manufacturing. It eventually fades away, some are just stronger than others. Very, very rare cases can cause a "poisening" which just means you are more sensitive.
I'm sure your fine. I would like to know what brand those are, I think they would look great on the back of my enclosures!
I will double check the brand, I bought it from a famous Mall-Based hardware store here called ACE HARDWARE. I will let you know once I found, no brand is indicated in the vinyl tile itself.
Dont worry, the fumes ARE from the adhesive, not the tiles themselves. By the way, I really like the enclosure (saw it in the viv only post)... and for only 90 bucks... WOW
i have used the vinyl tiles on my dragons enclosure for over a year and it has not affected my dragons health at all, so i think that you will be okay.
