I found a list of foods and what their nutritional values are as well as how often you should give them, as soon as I figure out how to change the printer cartridges I'm going to print it for reference. I've been giving him lots of different things to try and get him to eat more veggies, he seems to like collard greens the best, he turns his nose up a papaya, a bell peppers only tried yellow so far, doesn't seem to care for tomatoes, kinda likes green grapes, blueberries not so much, blackberries a little LOL who knew they'd be so picky. when you research them everything tells you that they love greens and to give variety nothing about them being so picky. I will check out this site for sure. Thanks He's a handful but he's so friendly and wants to play all the time, except today of course but he did perk up while I had him out he loves using me as a jungle gym
here is a hint with those mesh hammocks, if you sew you can make a cover for it so their nails don't get caught in the mesh or you can use it as a pattern to make your own if you want a themed viv at some point. They are so easy to make from scrap fabric or old towels or sheets/pillowcases. You can also get prints from walmart and make them up to suit the personality of your dragon. You can get the grommet kits very cheaply at walmart or home depot/lowes.
He's alert this morning and opening his eye some...still not a lot but more than yesterday. We ate a few greens and then had a bath where he did his business lol still no crickets but after bath the just cuddled him a little right now he is basking then I'm going to try feeding some crickets. He is very alert so I have hope. Esther I just realized I do have a repisun 10.0 uvb bulb its a funny looking thing that has 3 rectangular loops not a strip tho is this the correct bulb? it came in the lighting kit we bought but we had taken it out and put in the red night light that we need to keep temps up at night if this is the right bulb I will just buy a single head lamp for the other light and put this back
Ok so a couple things - No that is not the right bulb. That is the compact/coil. You want one that looks like a normal tube strip light. Also, you don't want to use a red light at night. If it stays above 65F, you don't need anything at all. If it is colder than that, you will want a ceramic heat emitter, which doesn't generate any light.
If you want to get a mesh one and just cover it, cut your fabric to fit the hammock and put the seam side down under the hammock so its situated in the middle and pin or Velcro it together so you can remove it to wash it and that way you don't have to sew it
thanks daner we're going to get him a strip light now also some chicken baby food just incase. I'm convinced he'll be fine once we correct a few newbie mistakes while my hubby still thinks he's not going to make it
*Update* We've switched his sand to tile, and changed out the uvb bulbs, he is still keeping his right eye mostly closed but is opening it more and more. I also fed him a little bit of chicken baby food and he is eating veggies(as much as he ever did) AND he just finished eating 10-15 crickets...not hand fed or chased straight too him he ran around and got them!!!! SO HAPPY Reaper is finally getting back to his normal self Thanks for all the tips guys
