right. but did you read the scientific link?

http://www.smh.com.au/news/science/veno ... 92739.html
to be honest, no.
like i said im not disagreeing i just know wikipedia can be false. my friend once looked up bill clinton and it sayed he was working on a bomb that released a hormone that made you gay
That's too funny! The only reason I posted that first link is because it was the first to pop up on my search.
When this was discovered one of our members had posted the original news link but it doesn't work anymore. There was a huge discussion here about it...I too, found it hard to believe but I guess it is.

i know what your saying. But now remember, the "venomous" species of bearded dragons is the pogona barbattaSo im not really sure about vitticeps. :?

i dont get why the pogona Vitticeps would even have venom. to eat it has jaw power. to scare away predators it has size, and if it got close enough it has those spikes on its head. thats more than most other animals. it doesnt need venom and at its strenght it is almost useless and unneeded

The venom is not very strong, and since they don't bite often I don't think it's a big deal at all.

Once Vern, who is doing great and 17" now, was eating some squash and knocked a piece into the sand. I went to grab it just as he did, and got an accidental nip. It did hurt more than it should have for the size and depth, and was a little swollen for a while. Nothing serious, more like a hangnail than anything.

It makes sense now that I have learned that Beardies have some venom.

I'm curious if those who answered "absolutely not" did any research before giving misinformation.

Perhaps this is a credible enough source?

Whatever we do, we mustn't let the beardies themselves know that they are venomous! They would just use it as one more weapon in their arsenal to enslave humanity!

Hey! I'm planning on ordering a 4x2x2 for my next beardie but I'm worried about lighting. I have a UVA and a UVB but they are small (the UVA just being a bulb and the UVB being 12 ish inches?) My house is drafty so I need a strong light that puts off quite a good amount of heat, any suggestions?
