Hello all I just received a new 40 gallon tank to move my beardie into. The only problem is it's very different from my past tank and I'll need all new lighting for it. As you can see https://www.google.com/shopping/pro...fVbggJXZjMTfkjn36nxk3YKnljIbFaMhoCZZkQAvD_BwE the mesh lid won't really allow a long uvb tube to sit on top. From reading other posts on here putting the uvb in the tank is possible. Is this a good idea? If so what bulb and fixture would you recommend? If there is tube that could sit on top and be effective enough what would you recommend? Any help would be greatly appreciated everyone, just want to make sure my little guy is happy and healthy.
With the 12'' version of that tank, overhead space is really limited. Do you have any other animals in the house? If not you could just take the mesh top off and suspend the lights above the tank (I do this with mine). If you do have other animals that pose a risk then the tank top should stay secured. A good T5 will be powerful enough to sit on top and provide adequate UVB over the basking area. http://www.lightyourreptiles.com/22-t-5-ho-fixture-high-output-with-arcadia-d3-12-ho-bulb/
