I have a pretty decent sized colony of dubia but I am trying to make it better so I have bought some roaches online. My first shipment came in today and I made a little unboxing video. My main concern here was my temps... it's pretty hot here in AZ and i wondered whether or not they would make it. Sadly most of them ended up dying. A small chunk were gone when I opened the package, and the bulk of the others died within the following hours.
I really like the guys I bought these from (CNS Feeders). I think it's just a matter of fine tuning how we ship these guys out here to AZ. With temps of 95+.... it's likely to be 120+ in the mail carriers vehicle and apparently that was just too much for these guys. I measured temps of 113 inside the box they were in.
So anyway... I shot this quick video of the unboxing. I had never ordered dubia online before and i am still getting used to messing with these nasty little things. Just thought this video might help others who are thinking about ordering dubia online. It's not all that bad!!
for anyone interested in ordering online, if it is going to be really hot or really cold that week put a note when ordering to ask for it to be held at the post office.
some feeder suppliers do this anyway, but usually in summer or winter.
