I had Apricot out in the sun after feeding her. I give her calcium mixed in critical care every evening then take her outside for 45 minutes to a couple hours to get natural uvb so I know she will metabolize the calcium. Usually the planes don't faze her. Today however one was lower than normal and louder. It scared her and she tried to bolt away, but I caught her and covered her with my hat. Apparently she thought that was the bestest thing ever lol This is how she ended up, once she calmed down a minute or so, she pushed my hat to get out but decided this was much better

Aww...she is smiling, sitting in the hat! I swear they smile...their lips curve up just a touch when they are happy and content. See the difference between the first pic and the later ones? Lips curving up just a touch!

Thank you She is starting to look at little better, she isn't as skinny as when I brought her home.

It takes a little time for them to get comfortable being outside. I have a back yard thats completely walled in so I can safely take them out.
If Flame is still skittish I recommend using a harness until you know how he will react. If he gets spooked you may not be able to catch him.

I agree, she seems like she's starting to fill in just a little. ... Baby steps. She is walking pretty good now btw She's starting to get strength back in her legs

Have you ever tried a harness and leash?

I have them but I never use them. Like I mentioned above, my back yard is completely walled in and it's 6 foot tall. Even if they bolt away, I won't loose them. If I'm out somewhere I usually only take one so I'm comfortable just holding them.

Oh I say that to Kai all the time..."its okay, youre safe..i got you!" He does understand that I keep him safe now. He is very comfortable in my arms or climbing on me. He doesnt free roam anymore but he climbs all over me now.

I agree with everyone, Apricot looks very good. It is clear that she has made significant progress. I am very happy for her. I always feel so hurt when something scares them. Be sure to give her a treat.

I agree, I hate when they get frightened. It takes a lot to scare her though. She sits outside with me for hours. My other four are in a panic after about 5 minutes.

Alex is usually fascinated by airplanes, but she's had similar experiences. There is a small airfield in the valley and depending on conditions there can be some pretty low and loud aircraft. Especially when the national guard Chinooks refuel there. They barely clear the fir trees behind the house. I can see the pilots lol When those approach it's like the T-Rex off in the distance in Jurassic Park only more rapid.
