I have had my bearded dragon for about two months and I believe he is about three months old. I've been been very patient trying to tame him by leaving my hand in for short periods of time and petting him under his chin. But no matter what, he will not let me pick him up. Every once in a while I have to take him out to clean and soak, but it is insanely hard to get him out without hurting him. He wants no part of it. Just wandering if anyone had any tips on why this is. Thanks
Some of them like handling more than others. I would try hand feeding some treats to help build trust. When you do pick him up, be sure to approach from the front and support his hands and feet really well. They don't like feeling off balance or being raised/lowered too quickly. The young ones also tend to like to dart off and explore more than sitting put. Try holding him in the evening around lights out. Maybe wrap him up in a soft blanket or towel and let him rest on you. Don't be forceful about it and if he doesn't like it let him be. Just some things to try out.
