Hi! We’ve had our bearded dragon for about two weeks now. He’s in a 75 gallon tank that’s glass. I feel I’ve finally figured out all his temps and ideal enclosure space. He’s eating everyday well. However, he is scratching at the glass like he’s trying to get out sometimes. Is this normal or a sign of stress? How do I help him? Thanks in advance!
They do that it is normal - I would let him adjust to his surroundings --- get him used to your hand in the tank and let him settle in --- they will jump off of you they think they are superman - so beware no shoulder riding -- his eating may also slow but as long as hes eating some that is good --- if they stop eating there is a problem -- I hope you are using a tube fixture for a UVB and NOT a coil

Well, I assume they got him as a baby and they told us he’s 1-2 years and they gave us all the supplies which was a coil uvb. I read the tube was better so that’s why I switched to that. So possibly his whole life???
And I did not know he was that old I thought he was a baby -------------what size tank do you have him in? If hes doing alot of glass surfing and the tank is only a 40 gallon its too small ---------never mind I reread the first post ---- not sure what the glass surfing is all about but it could have something to do w/ the lighting --- thats why I am asking about it

Ok are you talking about the fixture the Sunblaster? Did you get it corrected then if it was on wrong?
Brandon was the one that did the investigating on that issue - its posted on one of the forum boards
So any shaking or walking funny ? Do you have that fixture in the tank and approx 12-15 inches from the basking decor directly over head ?

Ok as long as you have a good UVB now make sure your changing it out every year I recommend a month before- he should be good- it's good he's not showing any signs of mbd or neurological issues
