So I hear this thunk across the room and look over to find Smok jumping at the opening to his tank (literally hanging on the wall). I had been holding him a bit before and had put him back...
I've heard the term "glass dancing"... is this a behavior to get attention? I figured maybe he wanted back out of the tank, so I opened it up to hold him. This is what he did:
Although it didn't last long as now he's trying to explore my shoulder/desk area. I'm really trying to monitor his behavior and body language, so any ideas you guys might have, I'd love to hear them.
Update: I put him back in the tank, and no less than 5 mins later he's back at it. Hanging on the side of the tank staring at me...
Hi. It might be his husbandry. I see you have a red light. Those bother them as they need a bright white basking light. What kind of uvb does he have? What are the temps and how do you take them? Cute little fellow by the way

It's an infared basking light designed to keep temp higher. Now here is my problem. I've been gradually increasing his temp because I know that his basking spot should be closer to 105 for juvies...but the people I bought him from swear up and down that 89-90 should be fine for the hottest part of his cage... They are also the ones who sold me the bulb and said it would be fine. Then again, they are also the men who told me that the reptiglo lights would suffice if its hot enough for him too.
He's got a reptisun 10.0 uvb tube. There's another slightly older reptisun tube as well, but mostly for visual lighting (not UVB). Do you suggest I play around with his lighting? The tank is smaller, and squarish...
Shortly after I put him back the second time he nextled in the back on his stick and went to sleep...Hasn't been disturbed either. I'm assuming it's because I put his heat a little higher. Hottest point in his cage right now is close to 100, whil coldest is about 83
Also, I have a heat gun I use for taking temps, as his tank is smaller. I also have a thermometer towards the top of the tank, near his basking area which is connected to a regulator to keep the temp the same..
Yeah. Beardies need a bright white basking light. Those colored one make them see things like we do when its dusk. Think of the out back their natural habitat. Very sunny. There is a couple of articles 2 the right for newbies that should help you get the proper habitat. Good you are using a temp gun.

Fixed. He seems fine and lively. Eating, pooping, exploring. Lights aren't the best, but will do for now, unless he experiences any other weird habits.
Although, I've found he does this every day after lights out. I took him out this evening after he did it again. I gave him a bath, and now he's fast asleep in a washcloth Silly little dude.
