I was reading that bearded dragons can go through puberty hahaha, weird I know lol, it happens when they’re just over 1 year old so now I need to know a little more information please! I heard that “Males- bob their head/ slap the ground with hand and Females- wave” so how long does the puberty season last ?? please because I think my little man is about to go through it or he just being typical and telling I should feed him more and more so he can hibernate (but someone on this forum that is from Australia like me, says none of his bearded really have hibernated) so in long run I’m only just asking about “ bearded dragons and their puberty stages for male dragons “ but if anyone wants to add stuff for female dragons feel free to as it will just help us all! please note: I only have 1 dragon
The age this happens and the length varies between dragons, but it's usually at around a year old. They get a bit hyper and moody and this behavior tends to fade away after a month or two (roughly, it depends). Just give him some space to run around and burn off the energy and he will be OK.
Brumation varies between dragons too. Some of them never brumate (my first two didn't) but others will brumate at different times of the year and for different lengths. Darwin usually goes into brumation from about September - December for the past couple of years. He acts groggy like he has taken sleeping pills. He will sleep for several days to a week and then be groggily awake then maybe be somewhat alert for a day or two then back to sleep. When he's done he wakes up and his appetite picks back up and he gets HYPER for a few months, then returns to normal. This varies quite a bit between dragons and is just my experience. Some of them sleep more heavily and some just slow down a bit or not at all.
