I recently contacted my breeder that I bought my bearded dragon from because I concluded from my past threads on here that my beardie has parasites. The breeder always says to contact them if the beardies have any problems, so I did. They said from the information I gave them that it does sounds like my beardie has parasites and that one way to treat would be to give the feeder crickets garlic powder on their food they eat. They also said to also buy metronidazole tablets that are usually used for fish but can be used for bearded dragons and it will help my beardie. This all seems a bit odd to me and I just want to double check with you guys before I give my beardie anything. Thanks for the help!
Unfortunately, I do not know wether that would be safe or not for your dragon, nor wether it would take care of your parasites. Do you know what kind of parasites your beardie has and what the count is?
I know that you can get the meds online through several websites. Tracie (Drache613) has very reasonable prices on her website for both deworming meds as well as coccidia meds.
I am curious though as to if what the breeder told you was true. What breeder is it?
Hopefully someone with more knowledge than me will pipe in soon.
I've never heard of such treatment for parasites... How would garlic powder help? Also, how can they tell you what meds to buy, if they don't know what type of parasites your beardie has? Different parasites require different treatment. This all sounds very fishy :?
That does sound really weird. I am on here all the time and never heard if that before. I personally would contact www.beardeddragon.co and talk to Cheryl. She has cheap fecal tests and meds
