Touched Uvb

Hi! I touched the glass part of the UVB bulb when I was installing it last night. I read online that can cause them to shatter so I’m going to clean it. Does anybody know if this is actually some thing that can happen. As soon as I hit install that I thought I probably should’ve worn gloves or some thing when I did that.

I've never not touched a UVB bulb while installing it.. lol.

Right lol! The website I read said that the oil from your fingertips can create hotspots on the bulb and cause it to shatter. @Claudiusx you’re saying you have touched the bulbs without gloves correct? I’m a little OCD so I woke up in the middle of the night worrying about this.

I'm a mechanic by trade, they have said that about headlight bulbs for years,and for the same reason. I have yet to wear gloves and i have yet to see one blow because of it.(and those bulbs get darned hot). Your bulb should survive your accosting it lol

Correct.. been doing so for 20 years. And in the time I've been here I've never once heard of someone's bulb shattering
