Hi all. My beardie Turner is 6 months old and very very active. She always wants out of her cage to run around and look out the windows. And that's great, but my house is pretty chilly. It's about 70 degrees at the warmest in my house. My mom has an illness that requires medicine that makes her very hot, so she needs to keep the house cool. My basement however is much warmer, probably 75 degrees (where we keep her cage). But my basement is not finished; it has concrete floors and many spaces that she could crawn in and we wouldn't be able to find her. When I do let her run around my living room, she just feels so cold. And she likes to get under little cracks in the couch and hide.
Where should I let her exercise?
I've had my bearded dragon for about 2 weeks now. His name is Gator. I usually have my place about 70 degrees but i let him run around for about 45 mins to a hour sometimes then I put him back in the cage then. I just usually keep him on my bed where I can watch him because I have alot of places where he can run and hide and could get hurt if I have to move things to look for him.
I think you can let her out for a little bit. Try putting her in one room, and hang her heating lamp in a corner, so she can run under it when she gets cold.
If it's any help, my beardies didn't even have a heating lamp or pad until a couple weeks ago. They lived constantly at about 60. Even less at nights. I felt horrible, but there was nothing I could do.
