So, Toa drank water from his bath for the first time (He is a year old, I've had him for 8 months). He drank for like 30 seconds or so, put his mouth in the water and I could see his beard moving. After his bath we were hanging out on the couch and he decided to jump off my chest down to my lap and water propelled out of his mouth. Not like vomiting more like when you squeeze a water balloon, it just came out. He then jumped off the couch (about 1.5-2 feet) and more came up. He is acting fine and ran across the floor. I picked him up and put him in his viv so he could warm up. I'm assuming he just drank a lot (his beard was a bit extended, looked like there was water in there, is that possible?) and when he hit the ground and it just propelled it out. Now he is just relaxing under his basking light, it has been about 20 minutes. Should I be worried?
He is a year old and 22 inches long. He is in a 40 gal breeder with tile substrate. His UVB is a reptisun 10.0 tube and was replaced a few weeks ago. He has a 100 w basking light, basking temps are 105, 95 on hot side, and 80 on the cool side.
Thanks in advance. Let me know if you need more information.
He is a good sized dragon, at 22 inches!
They can drink too much water & it can sometimes come up too if the beard gets disturbed or too much activity is involved.
Did he act normal afterwards? Is he still basking now?
OH that is most likely what happened then, it disrupted the fluids he had already ingested & his beard & belly were too full of water!
That is good he is doing well now.
