Hello,

Hopefully they will get your blood test results to you.
The x-rays look pretty good. I was actually going to ask about those dots on the x-ray, but
you already answered that! So those are permanent then, interesting.
The bones look straight to me & the hipbone areas appear bright as do the skull area, too.
If she started or seemed to do better when she was on the liquid calcium glubionate, then,
if her calcium levels are still low she should probably be back on it for awhile longer. I wouldn't
use both calciums though, either one or the other.
The glubionate liquid absorbs more quickly than the powdered calcium.
Is she still having trouble walking? I am wondering if somehow she hurt herself?

Let us know how she is doing.

Yeah I’m hoping it’s the calcium again. I called the vet earlier and they said the results should be in today and they will let her doc know to look for them. I’m probably going to call back in a few hours to check on any update.

Todays a bad day. She got up on her own but doesn’t want to eat for the last 2 days so I can’t get any calcium in her. Tried both her dubia and super worms. The BSFL won’t be here until tomorrow. She was acting extreme sleepy so I covered her head up to block out the light so she could go back to sleep. From her front legs back are still in an angle under both her lights so hopefully that’ll help. I’m somewhat worried it may be her infection coming back. This is how she acted both times she had issues with the calcium and infection. They gave fortza shots or something close to that name every 3 days for a month and starting to think they aren’t working completely. And her vet is set on shots instead of oral meds for the infection she had. If it comes back something else needs to be done.

Yeah those clips are permanent just something her vet put in during her surgery and I knew nothing about that at the time.

So I talked to the vet today. She still showing signs of infection that they want to try Enroflox orally for 21 days since the shots don’t seem to be working. Not sure why she’s is having issues with her legs but gave a shot of vitamin b in case levels are low and see if it helps. She has no appetite now fro 3 days so can’t get her any of her calcium so they got me critical care carnivore to try if she don’t eat soon and said all they can do is refer me to someone else for further testing.

I got a copy of the records but unfortunately it doesn’t have the new round of out of house blood work on it that she talked to me about last night that they took on sun. Only the prievious one from last thurs.

Edit: I was looking back over her stuff and neither time she had bloodwork sent out shows on her records they gave me. Only the one they did in house to check on calcium and that sort of stuff

Another question. Awhile back she had a bad shed on her tail and I was told we would watch it to make sure its not tail rot since it looked like it’s scabbed at the end. There has been no change I just looked at it a little bit ago again after giving her a dose of her antibiotics a few hours ago and now it’s more white. I think it may be shed but it’s the only place on her body that has changed. Just want to see any opinions.

yes it looks like shed --- if it was rot it would be black all the way around

Hello,

I agree, the tail tip is shedding but it doesn't look like an infection to me though.
Too bad she has to be back on antibiotics for another few weeks, I hope that they help this time.
Be sure to keep her hydrated & try to use a probiotic also.
Keep us posted on her!

Thank you. I heard non dairy soy yougurt mentioned before. Is that a good choice if I can find some local? Or is there something better?

Edit: could the infection cause weakness in legs also or should I be trying to get the vet to call in calcium if she won’t eat.

Edit 2: just got back from looking for soy yogurt and no where around here sells it. Closes thing is coconut milk passed and doesn’t have proibotics. Any suggestions on what to get or where

Just an update. I got back from a different vet because I feel like the other one is starting to give a run around.

He looked at my beardie and what results I did have the other vet office gave me. Just by looking at her he highly feels it is a mixture of the infection and her calcium again. He said stay on the antibiotic and he also prescribed ultigiene calcium 23% .4 ml once a day and meloxidyl .03 ml once daily for any pain she may be having.

Hopefully we can get her feeling back to normal or to where she feels better to try and figure out what keeps causing her issues.

I also picked up some Silk non dairy yogurt I found today for her and ordered a bag of herbivore critical care to go along with the carnivore crit care to make sure she gets everything she needs if she quits eating again.

Hello,

How is your dragon doing? What kind of calcium is she on, glubionate or is the ultigiene a particular
brand? At that percentage of 23%, the calcium is very strong so it seems like too much of a dose to
me. How long does the vet want her on that type of dose? Too high of calcium for too long can cause
softening of the bones & nodules along the cervical bones & other calcium deposits as well as renal or
heart failure. Please request information on the dosing. Calcium boosting is safe, most of the time, for
short term at high doses but should not be exceeded by a couple of doses at high levels. Then, a lower
maintenance level should be given. Let me check my medical books to double check on the dosing.
The recommended dose if not dealing with metabolic bone disease but just maintenance is usually 1mg
per KG of bodyweight. Dealing with metabolic bone disease dosing can be anywhere from 5mg per KG
to slightly higher but for short duration just to bring up blood calcium levels.
The meloxidyl dose should be ok, short term.
Please monitor her urates for hardness & or discoloration.

She’s about the same just wants to lay where ever I put her and not move.

I’ll send you pics of what she is on. He gave 20 day supply of pain meds and 15 of the calcium over all to give her. I actually emailed last night to see if we should do blood tests again because her 1st vet never sent in the results of the last one so he was going off the previous one that was a like a 4 days or so before that the other vet said she was within the range the vet wanted but that was when my beardie had one weak leg in back and right before she started getting weak in the others.

Her old vet said she could refer me to a specialist about 1.5 hours away. Should I do that and hope they can find out what’s wrong? I thought an exotic vet was a specialist.

Since June she has been on a lot of calcium and that’s one of my concerns is she’s getting to much. But seems like soon as she comes off she starts feeling down again. She was on gluconate from her other vet I believe once for 14 days and last time for 30 and it took quite awhile last time for her to start moving again then not even 3 weeks later she’s on this. Then all she does right now is lay about 8 inches under her uvb without the reflector that’s mounted in her cage.

She hasn’t went bathroom for about 6 days but she hasn’t eaten much and normally only goes in the bathtub but with it being cold here and her not feeling good I Havnt put her in since then. I’ll try tonight.

Edit: I believe when they weighed her she was around 1.2 pounds.

So now her paw has been swollen for a few days. Got her some black cherry juice incase it’s gout. She’s not wanting to eat and fights me for all her meds. I got another appointment tues and if it doesn't seem to get better I may try to get an energy appointment tomorrow or sun if they can get me in. I don’t know if it’s from the carnivore critical care she had a few licks of, the meds or just something else but it seems like everything happening at once.

I’m trying to get into a specialist but the one I was recommended is out until February. So trying to talk to a place about 4 hours away in Ohio to see if maybe they can get me in sooner. Only issue is I’d need to find a way there and as of right now the 23rd may be my earliest.

I should also add she had no appetite or wanting any water I try to give her from a dropper. Soon as she sees them she tries crawl away.
