My tank is too high, I live in Oklahoma and the humidity here is ridiculous at times! :x I use a reptile carpet as substrate and I do not have a water dish in there. The humidity at night to early morning is about 35-45% on cool side and is around 30-40% on warm side and in the afternoon
It will be around 30-40% on cool and 10-20% on warm. Of course it's 0 under the basking bulb but this worries me and was wondering if anyone has any tips on
Lowering it. Thanks all!
Yeah sometimes the tank will get as high as almost 50%! Idk why it has gone up so much since its gotten hotter. It's strange and just worried me is all!
There's no need to feel bad for worrying about your beardie's welfare. You're a great owner. Yeah, being in Florida, my humidity is always 40-50%, and occasionally it goes above 50%. I have a dehumidifier for when it climbs up. I'll run it on constant while I'm at work one day, then come home and be back to 40%. It's a system that works pretty well for me.
That's good, I have been studying reptiles especially beardies and all books I read on them say humidity should be between 25-35% which is why it alarmed me! Thanks for the advice! I do love my beardie, I love all beardies really! Lol where did u get your dehumidifier? I can't seem to find one.. :?
It's hard to find one specific range agreed upon... but from what I've read and seen, the risk for upper respiratory infections occurs over 50%. The absolute ideal range is 30-40%, but it's very hard for those in humid environments to get down to 30%. I also notice that when I run my dehumidifier down to 30%, it gets too dry for my comfort. So, it's a complex issue, lol!
I got my dehumidifer from walmart.com with free site-to-store shipping. I think it's a Soleus. It's really loud which is why I only run it when I'm at work, and I only have to turn it on about once a week.
Good I'm glad it's not a bad issue, I was starting to worry a bit! Thanks very much for your help! I'll probably get one at Walmart.com later. That's sucks that it's so loud but using it while at work is a good idea.
