Tile Flooring?

I want to get my bearded dragon some better substrate because the mat he currently has is old and I want him to have something new for his birthday. I have a 40 gallon terrarium, and I was wondering if anyone knew how much tile would cost to put it in, because I love my little guy, but I don’t want to go to Lowe’s and figure out that it costs $75+ 😅.

Tile is good but I would also put in something w/ more cushion --- you could do a few pieces of textured ceramic tile - that will keep the nails down - you want something w/ texture but no smooth or abrasive - thats going to cause some abrasions on the feet - go to the store and find something you like run your hands across it -- I did a 120 gallon tank for $13 but I have since pulled all but two pieces out and am currently using a black cushion matt that is fitted for a 120 gallon tank -- it came from Zen Habitats -- so another suggestion is besides the tile is textured NON adhesive shelf liner - cut to the size of the tank --

Unless you have the ability to cut the tile, if you plan to cover the entire bottom, get the inside measurements and they may cut it for you. Remember to leave a little gap at one end and the back so it doesn't fit to snugglely. If it fits snug it's very hard to take out for cleaning. Another trick is to put a couple layers of paper towel under it so if there is a runny poop the paper towel keeps it from spreading under the entire section.

I bought porcelain tile on clearance at Home Depot. It was $20 for 7 or 8 pieces of 2'x4' tile. I only have on in there right now, because I need to borrow my brother's angle grinder to cut them slightly, but they're not slippery, bit they're not too abrasive. Thor has good grip and it helps his nails without hurting him.

I would recommend getting something more natural for a basking spot though. I use cork wood over the tile, because tile heats up a lot.

She was having a staring contest with a mealworm. I guess I never taught her to not play with her food, lol.
