Hand warmer are great. Sporting goods stores might have a better selection. Also make sure your car has plenty of fuel. DO NOT idle it in a garage. Carbon monoxide is a super serious danger to you and Kai.
But in worse case you can usecthe cars heater to keep him warm.

If you do use them be sure to wrap them securely so that Kai can't touch them. They can reach 135-145 F . If you use them, take them out of the pack and give them a little shake, that activates them to start heating up. Then wrap them in a little newspaper and duct tape or small towel and duct tape.
Don't know exactly how this reply says you wrote it, lol.

Oh they didn't have the 18 hour ones ? Some Walmarts sell them
Oops I didnt go there...I went to Dicks sporting goods. But I got about 6 or 7 of them. The severe storms are due late afternoon and if power goes out, his lights go off at 730 pm, and the house (brick house) should hold heat pretty well. Normal nighttime temps are like 72-73 now.

Yeah, you should be fine. Hopefully you won't get the really bad weather , especially a tornado. They are terrifying.
We have only ever had an ef-1 tornado twice here in our town in my entire life. Scattered around some leafy branches about a quarter mile away but didnt even come near the house. The snow in winter is the bad thing...but so far no winter storms have caused power loss whew!

Here, indeed. (We have frequent power outages, but it isn't more than a minor "okay, then it's fruit or something else raw for dinner, and reading by candlelight" annoyance.) Before moving here, we however lived in Tennessee, so all the "cold, house not well insulated, house quickly down to less than 10 °C, tornado" thing (however, without a reptile).
The bad insulation was really the worst. Lost of power or otherwise no heating available at my parent's place (that's in the mountains in Germany, often power outage due to snow) in the winter? Of course not a nice thing, but ways better insulation makes the difference.

Tornadoes can be devastating for sure, but striaght line winds can be just as dangerous. Lightning, flooding, the whole bit can be dangerous. I hope everyone stays safe.

a poem by AHBD (THANK YOU SO MUCH! I LOVE IT!)

Sir Henry the dragon
Looking for his dragon girl
Ventures out in to the wide world
His hopes are up but as you can see
There is no dragon girl for Sir Henry
A light bulb goes off and he takes mom aside
Could you perchance get me a mail order bride ?
