So finally got my reptisun today! Found a supplier 2 hours away who carries them lol. Finally heres pics of the finished viv 8) Its 4x2x2 loosely built after crossfire with some personal tweaks. Basking light is a 100w Zoo Med reptile basking light, UVB is 36" reptiSUN 10, nightlight is 75w reptiglo. Can see Thor chillin in the "sun", I beleive he is roughly two months old at the time. His basking area is boosted up on a cell phone box for the time being.
- Three BX wires comming into the three gang box, one for Basking, one for UVB, one for nightlight/CHE if needed. Black wire leaving is going to the plug
- Timer for basking and uvb, on at 6AM off at 8:30PM, switch for nightlight, dimmer to adjust basking temps
That's a real nice setup. Thor sure is a little guy. It looks like he is quite a ways from the UVB light though. Can he get within 6 to 8 inches from it?
He can get fairly close, Im going to build up the rocks a little higher so he can get a few inches higher though. Yeah hes still pretty small, although in the two weeks iv had him hes grown a noticeable bit already. I got him from Petsmart and they didnt have a very good setup for them. There was about 15 of them in a space no bigger than a foot and a half by a foot and a half, bad UVB and a small heat lamp. Im sure hes gonna take off pretty soon in there. He eats alot.
It really is too bad, those big box pet stores dont give them the care they really need.. Ive been on this forum for almost a month now and Id bet money on it that I know more about them than they do
Coo, I've never seen a timer swtich like that. If I knew you could get those I probably would have used one when I wired up Nef's viv.
Did you buy your dragon from the Petsmart in Naniamo? They have no idea what they're doing. Their enclosures are pretty sub par and it seems every time I go in there there are like 20 dead fish floating around in their tanks. I poped in recently to see if they carried phoenix worms, I asked the girl working in the reptile section if they sold live feeder insects for reptiles. Her response was "umm we feed them bugs *giggle*" : P
Yeah the one in nanaimo, its brutal hey. Thors the lucky one who got out, hes doing great. I stopped by there today on my way home from school (im doin 3rd year in nanaimo at VIU) to get some crickets and had a look at the beardies who were still there. I dont think theyve sold many theres still like 13 or so in there and they are tiiinyyy.
Yeah that timer works great, its made by AUBE. My cost at the wholesaler was like 26 bucks i think?
All said and done it probably cost around $300.. I didnt want to cheap out on anything though, rather build it right once and have it last a long time.
