She was poking her head out so I grabbed some greens and berries. Dropped one small roach in by hand which she gobbled up. Was a bit tough to reach in so I grabbed the small tongs to drop the next one. She's not used to the tongs, she's a hand fed princess lol She kind of revolted back and is glaring at me now lol

My Taco is (also) afraid of new things.
The tongs, he knows them, but normally not from feeding (I feel hand-feeding just actually using my bare hands is easier than grabbing that insect and releasing it just when he approaches) but from me re-arranging things or cleaning up things in the enclosure when I can't reach it otherwise. Right now, Taco is shedding quite a lot and he then hides more - means, shed ends up in caves and niches, and so I use the tongs to pick it up and to get it out. Or for adding extra plants occasionally, I use tongs.
But new things... yes...
I just built him a ladder so he can reach his place on the windowsill on his own. Taco loves to climb like crazy, so I'm very sure he will use the ladder. But I bet, when he sees it first he'll be afraid and hesitate.

Btw.: In the beginning, to make him less afraid of the tongs, I used them for feeding by holding an insect with the tongs and dropping it close to him (in addition to using them for what my intended use was: picking up and re-arranging objects).
Now, when I use them, like today picking up shed and golliwog pieces dragged around, he looks curiously, but otherwise just continues with what he does, without a change in mood.

The ladder: as the last part I glued on still has to cure (ladder should snap into something on a piece of furniture to hold secure), it's not installed yet. I'll take a photo once that's done, likely tomorrow.

Hey! I'm planning on ordering a 4x2x2 for my next beardie but I'm worried about lighting. I have a UVA and a UVB but they are small (the UVA just being a bulb and the UVB being 12 ish inches?) My house is drafty so I need a strong light that puts off quite a good amount of heat, any suggestions?
