That's an on/off thermostat so it's best suited for things like ceramic heat emitters or heat pads that don't give off visible light (you don't want your basking light flickering constantly). What you want for a basking light is a dimming thermostat. They are about half the price on https://www.reptiles.swelluk.com but I'm not sure if it would wind up being a discount or not with shipping from the UK. Worth checking into. Gumtree may have something available on the used market as well.
And , I tried one once , it drove me mad …. alarms kept going off , they don't seem to keep their programming very long.
I know people who are into electronic gadgets who persisted with their units , the screens died after about year ( very conveniently just outside the warrantee period . they were not impressed ).
