Hi guys!
With the warmer weather and Zivas new cage, her mercury bulb is getting to hot for her. Can I use a thermostat on it?
She’s got an arcadia bulb for UV so I’m not worried about a thermostat reducing the uv out put of her mercury bulb.
I ended up having to shut her mercury bulb off all together last night as it got way to warm in her cage.
Raising her bulb isn’t an option as how the cage is designed. If I raise it, the hole it sits over will be exposed and Ziva could get out. ?
Sadly no, I can lower her logs, but that takes her away from her uv, but her uv is the 12% T5. I don’t recall how low it can be for her (it’s in a reflected hood and no mesh blocking it)
I’ve included a photo showing why I can’t raise it. Knowing her she’d climb right out that hole.
I would use the MVB as a portable basking spot for outside the tank and replace it with a halogen flood light which you can dim. That combined with the T5 should do the trick for what she needs inside the enclosure.
