The worms go a munched

I bought worms. I bought a container of worms that were the kind Beardie's love to eat. I know this because she loved to eat them. Now, mind you this is a first attempt with the worms to feed the Tiantha girl so...I'm cautious.

RIIIGHT...

I pull one of the ugly yellow suckers from the wood shaving type stuff and shake it all off look at it and grimace. I open the top of the cage and place it on her rock where it promptly crawls off into the sand and a tongue lashes out and scoffs it up.

Ok, I put the ugly thing on the rock so we don't take in sand. They are apparently a hit but I don't want the whole sand thing going on here. OK closer to her on the rock.

So I pick up another of the ugly things and get a little loser to her and try to wiggle it off onto...

It's gone.

I look at Tiantha to find her quickly making work of said worm.

Oh really...

So I repeat with the worm thinking. That HAD to be a once in a lifetime thing. So I put the worm on my hand with fingers together as before and bring it near her. I thinking. No way she can see that yellow worm on my human skin tone hand and actually get...

It's gone.

OK...This is going to be fun. So about 20 worms later I put her to bed for the night and go to bed myself, with that stupid, 'My Beardie eats from my hand, smile, on my face.'

Now I have heard its really bad to feed most reptiles from the hand but you know. That was just too much fun.

Oh and as a post script I put my other hand in immediately after feeding removed her water bowl refilled it and put it back in...with no interest to that hand as subject of 'lunging tongue' for food.

Now I ask you is that just cool or what?

You could put on a show- the amazing disappearing worms! Tiantha would like it. :)
Isn't it great when they eat their first something. I don't touch the worms if I can help it; I use tweezers.
And ignore the "handfeeding is bad" business. It can be, but it can also be very rewarding and build the bond between beardie and owner. Just don't get her too spoiled. :p BTW you got a lot of pets yo.

Well tonight it was two cock roaches and a few super worms. When I was a child I was the Tom Boy in the woods collecting salamanders for class and gardening with mom so...the only thing I can't stand animal wise that I know of...is spiders and I'm always trying to get over that irrational fear. Now if I'm gardening and they are moving away they go free so I'm improving.

Oh and of course she also has her greens. So salad is also going in. They need that roughage. :) It was suggested to me by 'That pet Place' in Lancaster that if she is hand feeding and not eating greens to get a leaf and make it seem to move in front of her and she will munch happily. THAT sounds like a funny idea.

The next story may come from that experiment.

It’s been a month since I’ve joined bd.org! It feels like it’s been longer than that, but I’m glad I’m here and apart of this lovely community!
I can feel her staring into my soul demanding food
She was having a staring contest with a mealworm. I guess I never taught her to not play with her food, lol.
bro went to bed already, it’s 10:36 pm
Definitely going to be using this image if I ever catch a fence lizard again.
