Last night I was missing two hornworms from the PetLand bag and uuuuuuhhhhhhh there’s a hole. I did have the bag open for aeration but it was pinned by an Arcadia bulb we are using for vacation. That hole is exactly the diameter of a hornworm though. I’ve been missing one hornworm for a few days and the bag was randomly deflated when it was sealed by the elastic. Has anyone else had this with hornworms?
The first problem is the possibility that the one I have to Kazoku on Sunday had eaten some plastic. The other problem is keeping these caterpillars in something they uh can’t eat. And what’s the best way to locate them (preferred conditions in a downstairs living room)? ._.
They can chew through thin plastic like a bag (as you've seen), so you'll want something just a bit thicker. A clear plastic bin should be fine. The ones I get come in plastic cups with some food inside and a plastic ladder to hang onto - those work just fine.
I hate horn worms, they are so creepy looking and they bite pretty hard. This is hilarious though, I’m sorry you have a very hungry caterpillar probably eating your house right now.
