Example
Tile
I like it because there is no risk of impaction, easy to clean.
I wipe it down whenever they poop with healthy habitat, bleach once a week.
$5 a 4 x 4 tank i get clearence tile at lowes
I dont like how hot a tile can get, and they get cold at night.
Type of substrate: Tile
Why you like it: Easy to clean, cheap, most sanitary IMO, looks good
How do you clean it: With a steam cleaner
Price: Was about $12 for my first 40g, then i bought some more expensive tiles for $20 for my other 40g
Any Pros\cons: Pros: easy to clean, cheap, sanitary. Cons: heavy
Why you like it: It caters for their natural instinct and the convenience of time for me. I don't have the time to run a full sand enclosure due to number of reptiles kept.
How do you clean it: Tiles are cleaned with F10 sand is spot cleaned when needed (though have not had to do that in years).
Sand gets replaced once a month...
Price: $4 dollars for the tiles, $6 a month for the sand
Any Pros\cons: None for what I need it for and my husbandry practices
