Hi guys, so Justin Bobby (a healthy 2 mo.) has lately been doing this sort of glass dance , placing his hands on the sides of the tank and sliding back and forth, it's cute, but he has been doing it more lately, when I am home mostly I presume. I thought it was because his cricket keeper is on the same table his tank is, so I moved it, but he still does it. Does he want to get out, or want me to hold him? I usually do, but I am just curious if it could be anything else attributing to this.
Mine (Gladstone) does that and I can't figure out why because the action is so random. He'll do it on the kirchen floor by the glass door to the deck. I assume he wants out. Anyone got any other suggestions?
Julio & PaPe do this when they see one of us walking around by the tank. They want to get out and get attention. The funny thing is that the darn things want to also jump onto the rocks in the background picture. The boys have a hard time understanding that they cant go through the glass.
Mine used to do this all the time, but as she is getting older, has quit doing it so often. I think she was doing it because she wanted out. Then we took her out, and she was scared and wanted back in. Now that she is getting a little bit older, and more comfortable around us, she does it less. We are actually moving her into the living room this weekend, so we will be able to observe her behavior more. This way she will also get used to our movement.
Judah does this when he wants out  I let him out to run around at least once a day, otherwise he gets board. He loves es-plorin! But yes many of them do it when they see their own reflection as well, and it is pretty funny. I have a tall framed mirror in my room and he always tried to jump through it. I guess he thinks there is another part of a room. He doesn't freak out with this particular mirror, but he will put his paws up on the edge of the frame and check himself out. I work with glass so we have lots of glass and mirrors here. With this other mirror he'll run by it, see himself, stop, start head bobbing and slapping his paw on the ground. :laughhard: (This is actually not a good thing even though it is funny, because it can stress them out.) But ill go over to him and touch the mirror and then touch him, so he then figures out "oh ok thats just me in there", and then trots off like nothing ever happened. silly critters they are
Sadly mine are grown-up and kinda lazy, so they only really "glass-dance" when the've pooed in their viv, and want it cleaned up asap! As soon as I hear shoomp...scracth, scratch...swish, swish, swish..I know exactly what to expect when I go to check on them !
Mine does the glass dance when he has done a poo too!! But it isn't to clear it up - it's to get him out and away from it!! If I just clean it up he still wants out and continues to dance. Ha ha. I love their quirky behaviour always keeps me smiling.
