I was just wondering a bit more about a beardies black beard. I mean I know what it is and why they do it, but I was thinking about it while viewing pics here of black beards and realized that I have never seen Spike's black beard!! She has puffed it out occasionally, but I have never seen her beard!
Could she be that content?
I wouldn't mind hearing people's responses to this one, too. Ghanima has only bearded once (not black, just puffed out, and it was because she was trying to run in a Santa outfit). Leto only black-beards when he's about to poo.
Other than that, they've never shown any sign of annoyance except the usual beardie death-glare every now and then.
Golly goodness - the amount of bearding in our house is silly. Sometimes my two have spats with each other, so there's plenty of beardy goodness there, most of the time when T'sam's on a full-on bobbage, he has a whacking great flappy jet black beard, I'll have to take some snaps sometimes, when he's properly sooted up. But the best one has to be T'sam confronting my californian kingsnake.
Don't worry, Eden was in her tank, but considering he's tame and never encountered a true threat, I was impressed how his instinct kicked in.
He turned into a spiky pancake, twisting round to look huge, mouth widewide open, and issuing a low, gutteral Huisssssssshhhhh noise. Don' LIKE it!
After a romp around the livingroom, the two dragons had been bobbing and bowing like nodding dogs on speed bumps. We didn't have any actual flaring, but he did go a lovely shade of crude oil. I hope I got the full intensity of his colour across - it spreads right across his chest, over his shoulders, down his arms and up the back of his neck too!
Coo, he's a lovely colour. What was he narky about?
I have to agree with females not quite as dramatic. Kyle's just backwards - she will go a sort of charcoal grey, but rarely will she puff. I have caught her stretching her beard, but only light coloured, and once when she was a tiny baby she went smoky and puffed. She was annoyed that I was offering her salad when she didn't want it and tried to bite me. She got a mouthful of dandelion leaves instead!
