Hi-Thanks to everyone for helping Spike catch up on his feeding! Our little fellow has gained so much weight and has visually gotten so much bigger! We are amazed that the nameless nation wide Pet...store would have had us starving our beardie! We bought 500 crickets from georgiacrickets.com...a great website!
So now we are planning on being away 4th of July for two nights...and I'm nervous! I was thinking of feeding Spike all of his crickets he would eat in a day before we leave (in the afternoon-we have a few hours drive). Then leaving TWO bowls of salad (he's used to ONE daily) with Reptiworms inside- He's used to searching for his worms in broccoli (and then winds up eating some broccoli...;-) so I am hoping that he will eat when he is hungary and search for the worms then. PLus leave the beaded dragon food either in the same dish or maybe a 3rd dish? We should be gone a total of 48 hours...we have the lights ready to be on a timer but no one to look in on him ;-(
Any thoughts on our plan or any advice on what has worked for you if you had to leave for a few nights?
Is he a baby/juvi? If so then you really need someone to come by once a day and look after him. Even if it just to give him a fresh bowl of greens and worms. His greens will dry out way before you get back.
Also you might want to look into a different veggie, broccoli should only be fed once in awhile. http://www.beautifuldragons.com/Nutrition.html
He's about 4 mths old...and it makes sense that someone should look in on him...I will definitely ask a neighbor then for I am too nervous to leave him alone. We have had him about a month and had these plans scheduled months ago so am trying so hard to avoid canceling the trip...
Thank you for the link on the greens...there has been so much to learn about these adorable dragons.
