Having tried a few different lights to provide correct UVB + UVA I finally gave up listening to poor advice and ordered the Arcadia T8 D3 reptile lamp with 12% UVB + full spectrum.
Well, having been hiding out and slowly going off food for well over two weeks, (the last two days only drinking water) this light couldnt have come soon enough!. It has only been in since lunchtime (London times) and he has eaten 18 crickets already!!!. (8 months old)
I cant thank Arcadia enough and wondered if anyone else uses these lights or has tried their new T5 lamps?
My case certainly highlights the importance of proper research into what Beardies need before buying one.....something I thought I had done, but clearly...not properly. Hopefully, no-one will need to learn from my mistakes and Arcadia will keep making proper lighting and inform those who claim to be experts!!!!....
hm,so say i wanted to get one of these i have a 24 inch fixture which one would i need exactly?i have a friend that lives in THE UK,and can place an order for them, and maybe make a business re selling these in the us
Arcadias are fabulous.
Brandon they are available as T8 bulbs. They also do a good MVB- with shipping to the US, it costs roughly £50 at the moment BUT, it requires you to have a transformer due to the different voltages (from what I remember!)
To the OP, the T5 bulbs have good reports. You need to place them 12-20 inches away though so you do need a reasonably large viv. You can use the 6% t5 bulb at 6-8 inches tho and it will give better uv than the 12% t8 bulb and the reptisun. I have one T5 12% and two T8 12% bulbs. Sadly the beardie I was using the T5 with passed away a few days after it was installed (from an ongoing illness- nothing to do with the bulb) so I can't give a personal opinion on it until I move one of the others to that viv. But Was in close contact with Frances Baines (http://www.uvguide.co.uk) whilst setting it u and she has good results with it I will post on the boards once I actually am using a t5 longterm.

yeah, they come as tube lights and the sizes are the same as the reptisun 18, 24, 30, 36, 48 inch... cheapest place to get them over here is http://www.reptiles.swelluk.com/... guess postage wouldn't be as bad if you could get a friend to order and then post to you.. the 24" is only about £20, so works out about $30 plus however much postage would be

I was in contact with the sale manager of arcadia a couple months ago and they are currently looking into vendors to carry their products in America. Not sure when they will make it here but they are definitely coming.
online price £20.57, but I paid extra for a next day delivery......the service of these people was great in terms of tracking but unfortunately the delivery company this end must of knocked on the door with a feather because four of us never heard them!!!!! So had to wait until today!...be interesting to see what tomorrow brings, seeing as today went so well with new light!
Here's the link for delivery charges where they state a surcharge can be added to offshore orders at the point of order....not sure how much it would be though
