Hey I am just wondering what you guys use to take the temperature of bath water. I have re-purposed a candy thermometer which gives me accurate readings but it is so slow that by the time the dial starts getting close to where I need it to be, the water starts getting too hot and I end up wasting so much water. The probe thermometer I have...I don't think the sensor on it is waterproof just based on how it looks and the tempgun is not giving me accurate readings on the water temperature. Just wondering if there is an easier way to do this without wasting tons of water trying to get the right temps.
I would just test it buy placing your hand in so that the water reaches your wrist like you would a baby's bath water.
If it's to hot for you it's to hot for your beardie. I did take a temperature reading of it once to post the proper temps when someone had asked...but that is the only time I have used a thermometer to test it.
BTW..not sure if you are asking what that temps should be but if so about 95* to 96*ish.
I am a really horrible judge of temperatures. To me 100 degrees feels lukewarm. 80 degrees feels lukewarm as well. For me, hot doesn't start until about 105.
Instead of swirling your hand around the tub or using your palm to test the temperature, test the temp on either the back of your hand or your wrist, which is more sensitive to heat. If you do this too many times, you can try slowly going up your arm too.
