This is Apollo's enclousure, a 37gallon melamine tank. I've been using a 30watt floodlight keeping temps around 82 cool side and 95 basking.
He's been eating, basking and pooping normally. Not undigested feeders. He doesn't eat enough as I think he should be eating though. He eats around 20 crickets when I think he should be eating around 40. He eats a good amount of crickets, but when dubias enter he goes crazy for them. My colony is breeding so currently dont have enough dubias to feed off of only about 5 dubias per day for him
I went to a 50w floodlight, cool side is 85-87, basking is 115-122f is this too hot for him?
I'm having difficulties trying to find the right wattage.
Is that too hot, and is the 30watt temps too low? What should I do
Way too hot. I am not sure what other bulb you could use. You could try using a different basking platform that would be a tad closer. The temp needs to be at least 95 to digest the food properly.

I agree with the others that the 50 watt floodlight is producing too much heat for him. I think it would be a good idea to either try putting the 50 watt on top of the tank to see what the temps are then or us the 30 watt and either raise the basking ramp you're using now or use something higher to bring him closer to both the basking & UVB bulbs. When he lays on the area where you have the probe in the picture, what is the distance to the UVB and is it a HO bulb?
What bulb did you have in when he was laying on the bottom of the tank like in the picture? How old is your beardie again?

I can rule out on top of tank because it's custom and ceramic heat fixture is in place on top of ceiling. I will probably raise the basking slate. The picture is currently a 50wat, i just went back to the 30wat a couple mins after i posted this. Distance is about 6-8 inches from his Reptisun 10.0 t8 bulb, he gets enough UVB.
Sounds like you just need to increase your ventilation a bit. Your basking temp with the 50 watt isn't a big deal, but the cool end needs to be cooler than it is.
