We had a little accident with Chimeras cage when we were moving it so he needs a temp cage for the moment. Any ideas hes in a 10 gal now temps are fine in there i just had to raise his heat up a bit, Hes about 12 inches long i was thinking about a big rubber maid tub or something of that nature? any ideas are very welcome!
Not sure how much cash you got jingling in your pocket but I know for $60 (rather steep I'm guessing for a temp cage, I got two though and its great for taking my lizards with my on vacation with us) here it is http://www.petsmart.com/product/index.jsp?productId=2753235 basking area is in the center which is a little challenging but other then that its great for temp setups, its around 15 gallons or so I think :?: Its got a screen top to it so you can add all your uvb and heating stuff on top. A cheaper idea are those under bed storage containers (make sure its tall enough so your beardie doesn't jump out though,) which are four times a long as they are tall (the clear kind are the most attractive). Not sSure what is your source for UVB, if you got a tube you would have to find some way of mounting it and if you have a MVB, then their really isn't any problem, just clamp your lamps to the side of the container and your set. The rubbermaid container is a good idea too. By the way how long do you expect to have this temp cage set up?
oh only for a week or so , just had a major leak under the house it cost big bucks to have fixed. Then we had a gas leak I had to have fixed today too. Just waiting for more money to come in its tax time. Then im gonna spoil him rotten! only thing im using right now is his basking light due to having to get rid of his coil UVB light..His temps are a bit lower than normal im having to move the light around to get it at 95 to 110 before and after he eats for the 1.5 hours . he had some issues with the UVB, freaked out when it was on and his eyes was acting funny so im getting his UVB light at the same time as his cage. Im taken him outside to get lots of real sunlight as much as poss intill i can get the light. Might be sooner depending on if we have anymore things happen.. its been some week!
Big rubbermaid tubs work great as temporary enclosures - I have a huge one (4 ft long x 16 inches wide) that I use with Randal when I take her out of town with me.
Rubbermaid type containers work fine for temporary. Just get a clear one. Ours was sort of opaque and Norbert basically stood looking up for 4 days until his real viv was ready. All he could see through ours was shadows. He really wanted to be able to see out.
