I have had my bearded dragon for about a year now. Her name is Bo-ann. ( First named Bo, then found out that Bo was a she, I didnt wanna change her name completley so came up with this : ) ) She looooves to sit on her rock and look out the front door, but if you take her outside she gets really upset, turns black, opens her mouth and trys to get out of my hands. So I dont take her out often at all, but its getting so pretty out and she loves to look around through the window just doesnt like going out. I dont know what it is. Is there a way I can get her used to going outside and liking it? Or do some beardies just dont like it, so i should not push her? Anyways, any advice would be great!!! Her are some pictures . . . ; )
I find it mostly in females that some just don't like to be outside and will panic no matter what you do. But you could try just taking her out for a few seconds at a time holding her close to you so she feels safer and so she doesn't spaz and get away from you...it's a big bad world out there. Do this often and slowly spread the time out as she becomes less frightened. The puffing up and opening her mouth is her way of saying she's frightened. Also a car ride is a good way to break them in on being out of the house. However if she's anything like my females she won't like things from above like electrical wires and overpasses so while breaking her in you should avoid these if possible.
Bo-Ann is a pretty girl....and she's got a nice rock.
