Hi there,
So my Ahsoka has a case of tail rot. I took her to the vet and they confirmed it. I think she must have accidentally injured it in her enclosure, and it just never was able to heal.
The reason I’m here is because the vet told me to wait 2-3 weeks for the rot to progress so he can see where the infection actually starts. That kind of set off some red flags for me, but they’re the only Exotic vet in my area. It’s been two weeks now and I have an appointment with them tomorrow. I noticed that a little ways up from the actual rot, her skin is deathly pale when compared to the yellow undertones of the rest of her tail. You can clearly see the demarcation line separating the pale from yellow. Is this what they were talking about and is it a good enough indication of where the vet should amputate? They charge me every visit and I’m on a limited budget.
Any advice would be greatly appreciated. I love my baby, and I’m concerned if I wait too long, she’ll get sepsis and die.
