Unfortunately it is. You'll need amputation about 1/3 inch above where the bad part ends. Beardie's do very well with amputation and are often eating the same or the next day. And you should have it done ASAP, there is infection that will travel up the tail under the scales very quickly and can eventually cause death.

Hello,

Poor thing, he likely wasn't handled properly at the previous owners,
or it was bitten. I agree with AHBD, it is going to need some vet care.
It hopefully wont get worse too quickly but it is definitely going to need
some type of amputation.
Great looking dragon though!

It might be anywhere from $200 up to $600 depending on who the vet is, how much of the tail is cut, what meds. are prescribed, etc.
Do you know of a good reptile or exotics vet in your area that has experience with beardies and has done this before ? Also look at their reviews.

Hello,

How is your dragon doing today? It is imperative that the vet be an exotic or reptile vet with good
reviews. Regular vets are not knowledgeable enough to treat reptiles, & many times hurt the reptie.
Let us know if you are able to find one!

Evening sorry for a late reply so we got a new uvb bulb I upgraded the whole lighting system a t5 model which I got from Jolleys which was £70 and I also got a new heat lamp to, we see a vet and they have given antibiotics/pain meds also a antibiotic to soak the end of the tail in and a cream to apply after once dry for two weeks if this fails they will then amputate the bottom where is needed

Hello,

That's great you have upgraded the lighting to the T5 model!
I hope you can get the tail issue taken care of soon. The tail will most likely need to be amputated
at slightly above the injury area. This regimen should keep it from getting infected though.
How is your dragon doing now?
Keep us updated on how things are going!

As you said it will need to be amputated, we woke up this morning and blues part of the dead tail is half hanging off we have called the emergency vet we have sent them images just waiting for a reply/appointment I will update you guys asap, would like to say thank you for asking about blue we really appreciate the kindness kind regards Peter

Yes I could tell it was beyond saving. The tissue was already shriveled + dead under the scales. Make sure the vet has experience with this , they will need to cut up in to the good tissue a little bit up above where the dead part ends.
Good thing you recognized and asked about it here. Blue should do fine, beardies don't feel much pain in their tail and won't miss it. Most are up + eating in a day or so.
