Tail rot?

Hi.
This little guy is Shrub. I have had him for about a week, I was told by his previous owners that his tail was bitten off by his siblings, after reading about beardies, I saw about tail rot and have noticed how gray the end of his tail is but am not sure whether this was scarring from the bite.

I think its been there since i got him (last friday), though i only noticed it after reading about tailrot.

If it has scabbed over and there is no black creeping up the tail he should be fine- keep an eye on it tho and I will have ahbd take a look to make sure

Hello,

It does look like the tail is healing up. You can put some raw unpasteurized or manuka honey on the area just to be sure there
isn't any infection going on. As suggested, just watch the coloring of the tail to make sure it doesn't turn dark.
I am also looking at the left foot & toe areas. They look a bit off & swollen in the pictures. I hope he isn't developing gout right
now. Has that foot had any damage from a bite, it didn't look like it.

Yes, i have been told that he has been bitten by his siblings. Could this cause gout? And thanks for pointimg this out.

Hello,

How is your baby doing?
No, bites shouldn't cause gout but can contribute to infection which could make the swelling prominant.
Gout is usually caused by other factors though. You could consider getting a blood test to see what the
uric acid levels were to help with diagnosis.
