So the tip of my beardies tail (the last 1/4 inch or so) didn’t completely shed last time and now it’s kind of deformed and a little dark. It’s been this way for sometime now (March-April) but it doesn’t seem to be spreading at all. It almost looks like the tip wants to fall off but doesn’t seem dead. He still has feeling it. We took him to the vet and they gave us an antibiotic for a week and the dark coloration went away and this was 2 weeks ago and now it’s turning dark again. He has a check up coming up on this Tuesday to see if it needs to be cut or not. I’m not sure if we should cut the tip off or not since he still has feeling. I’ll post a couple of pictures but they are kind of hard to tell on them. Just want some insight on what you all think should be done.
Hi there, that may or may not be a problem but it won't hurt to have it snipped off to keep it from becoming a problem. That could easily be done with or without local anesthetic , won't cause much pain and would look good once it healed , which would not take long. Other than that you can soak it in a diluted betadine solution for now.
I agree, it doesn't look serious but appears to have sustained a bit of an injury or maybe
retained shed? A lot of dragons do tend to have problem with their tail tips, but even if he
has to have it snipped off he will be perfectly fine!
Thank you for the responses guys. It doesn’t seem to bother too much right now, and yes it was from retaining shed. I guess I’ll have them nip the tip off at his next appointment, poor little guy lol. But thanks again for the input! Much appreciated!
