I recently rescued two bearded dragons and they were in very bad shape when we got them both had MDB and wasn't given the proper lighting or tank size. We now have them in much bigger tanks and they are receiving proper lighting and heat and are given veggies and bugs, the one seems to be bouncing back just fine now, but I am worried about the other one. I believe its a he, and he doesn't seem to eat much veggies but loves his bugs and when we got him I noticed his tail has some black spots on it and that he has some brown spots on his thigh/genital area. He walks really well without his feet and we are just wondering what they may be.
Can someone please help, I am worried about him quite a bit and don't know if I should be.
Hi there, it's nice that you took them in and good to hear of their improvement. The spots are actually called femoral pores and are more pronounced in males than in females. Perfectly normal . The tail may just be a bit dirty, try a gentle scrub while giving him a 10 minute warm soak to see if it comes off. It may even be old shed. Post new pics after the soaking + he's dried off, try to get it in better lighting though.
Hello,
Yes I have them in two separate tanks. I will try to give him another bath later this week since we just did before those pictures were taken and see if i can scrub it off. I will message back to let you know if it comes off.
