Does tail length mean anything? I feel like Lloyd has an exceptionally long tail which seems to shed more often then the rest of him. or is this a normal tail for a beardie?

Beardies, like people, come in a ton of different shapes and sizes. :) I've heard of some people who are actually selectively breeding their beardies to have exceptionally long tails. It happens! Your little guy looks great.

thank you! is there anything wrong with that little kink at the tip end of his tail? I've had him for 2 months and he's not housed with other beardies so it wasn't bit-unless it was at the petstore before I got him.

My big guy has an almost identical kink right near the end of his tail too. His previous owners had him since he was tiny, and said the tail was like that when they got him. He's currently 4 years old and the kink hasn't been a problem. I do keep half an eye on it since I'm a worrier lol, but no issues so far! :)

thank you snazzyglasses! I'm a worried new mama so that makes me feel better!!
jdsbeardie- haha he's not blue! I think it's just the lighting and the fact his tail is shedding  but that would be so cool! here's Lloyd in regular lighting so you can see his regular colors- we tell him he's awesome regardless lol

He looks great. I wouldn't worry about a thing! However, I do feel the need to say... Holy smokes!  That is one heck of a tail on your beardie!! Love it.

Sorry, late to the party!

The tail kink I've seen often in clutches that experience temperature fluctuations while incubating, although exactly what the fluctuations are or how high they need to be to trigger tail kinking, I couldn't tell you. Might be a high temp spike or a low temp spike, I haven't personally hatched any (just had a handful of customers every year over the last few years) so again, not 100% sure what temp range causes it.

The beardies don't seem to mind it one bit, though!

ok so it might be something he was born with. that makes me feel better than if some other beardie bit him while he was in the petstore. thanks everyone for the replies!!

Getting ready for another day. Feeling sleepy. 😴
I just walked into my room and instead of looking at me, Swordtail's eyes darted directly to the ice cream drumstick I'm holding
Finally replaced Swordtail's substrate
I miss you so much, Amaris 💔
What is a quick way to warm up a cold beardie? His heating element went out overnight and now he's very cold.
