Hello, this is my first post and my first time housing a bearded dragon. My brother in law could no longer take care of this little guy and I'm loving it so far, but I can't help but notice discoloration on his tail.

Pictures will be below but his tail has been this color for a couple months now, sometimes getting dark but mainly staying a tan color like he is going to shed but it never happens

He was given to like this and I just wanna make sure he isn't in pain or anything, again thank you for any helpful advice! :)

From these photos, it looks like stuck shed though someone else may have a different idea?

If stuck shed, normally they can get rid of shed by themselves. You can give him a lukewarm bath to help remove it, but don’t pull it off. Do not worry as he is not in pain from this. It will only be concerning if it’s constricted.

It’s not tail rot though. Tail rot usually looks dark with a mushy, shriveled ‘texture’ to it.

1st welcome to the forum 🙂
Feel free to ask about anything at all.
2nd it looks like shed but if it isn't wanting to let go you can try soaking him in luke warm water or get some coconut oil and apply it to the area. Sometimes sheds can be stubborn 😣 as long as it isn't restricting blood flow it will eventually come off on it's own. If it starts looking like it is restricting blood flow, use the coconut oil to soften it for sure.

Also if you do gives soaks be EXTREMELY careful about letting him get his face in the water. Keep the water as shallow as possible. They can aspirate in the blink of an eye.

Okay thank you, I have given him a couple baths over the couple months I had had him but no luck. I'll give it another shot.

a poem by AHBD (THANK YOU SO MUCH! I LOVE IT!)

Sir Henry the dragon
Looking for his dragon girl
Ventures out in to the wide world
His hopes are up but as you can see
There is no dragon girl for Sir Henry
A light bulb goes off and he takes mom aside
Could you perchance get me a mail order bride ?

Hey! We’re the same age! That’s cool!
Hi there a little update we went from a 50 watt heat lamp to a 100 watt basking halogen heat lamp hahaha I saw some comments about it being so close so I made sure to put it a ruler away from her
Has anyone seen this before? Something in the corner of his mouth
