Hi i'm just about to buy the arcadia 12% T5 setup for my beardie i have a 4ft viv and i wanted to know what size uvb lamp would be best the 22 inch lamp or a bigger one?? as i read somewhere a 22 inch would be fine if you use the sun beam method (angle the uv light right on top of the basking bulb) as the T5's are much more powerful then the T8 12% light
Thanks
I have the 34" in my 4x2x2. It is also an Arcadia t-5 d3 12%. I still have a good shade effect with mine. It is positioned at the top, in the middle. It is pushed all the way to the hot side...leaving plenty of shade on the cool side. Getting good UVB readings at the basking spot. You will love it. Makes the whole viv light up, plus it makes for a happy dragon.

Hey, I've got 4ft viv and have a Arcadia t5 12% UVB and it runs the whole length of the viv I was just wondering how close does beardie need to get to it?

If you have the reflector with this bulb, it does not need to be any closer than 15". I have my basking spot 17" from the bulb, and I am getting good readings from my solar meter. If no reflector is being used, then you can increase the distance. But since these are high power bulbs, with no reflector, I would think 12".

I have the reflector, my beardie can get about 2-3 inchs from the light is that okay or should I move it further away??

I hope you typed that wrong...2-3 inches is way too close from any UVB bulb. :help:
The Arcadia T5 D3 12% with reflector should be no closer than 15". Yes, you need to adjust your distance.
That really is far too close even without a reflector that is too close without a reflector he should only get as close as 6'' and with the reflector it should be minimum 15'' . i have my T5 bulb without a reflector when my beardie is on his basking spot he is about 7-8 inches away and when he lays down he is 10 inches away.
