Hello, I'm new here and have questions about my girls swollen front foot. What the cause could be and any help until I get her to the vet. I'll get better pictures tomorrow.

Hello,

Sorry your girl's hands are a bit swollen. How long have they looked like that?
Normally, pre-shed causes some swelling but it looks more like gout developing.
How old is she?
We can review your tank setup if you need, such as the type/brand of UVB, supplements, foods, etc to be sure everything is all good.
You can be proactive & get some black or tart cherry juice to help with uric acid excretion.
Let us know how things go at the vets.

Since Friday the left went down since Friday and that's what I am afraid of. Do I give her black cherry juice or extract? How much/how often?

Uvb is arcadia t5 12% 24inches, calcium with vitamin d3, superworms, occasionally hornworms as a treat, greens daily with spinach. She won't eat crickets or mealworms or black soldier fly larvae and I haven't tried roaches yet. I'm waiting to add anymore supplements until I figure out the swelling but I have electrolytes and multivitamin on standby to add. Is gout reversible? How bad is this?

Hello,

Oh so the swelling did go down some, or not really? If the gout is mostly caused by UVB & diet/husbandry issues, then it is
most likely reversible. If it is genetics or not caught early enough then it will often go to full blown gout that needs a more
aggressive treatment.
The black/tart cherry juice can be given daily for her. You can start her on .5ml to 1ml, straight or diluted either way.
Since you are using a T5 high output tube UVB light, she wont need much D3 supplementation. So I would use calcium without
D3 most of the time. You can supplement with D3 a couple of times per month & the rest of the times just use plain calcium. For
now, hold off on the roaches because they are high in uric acid. If you can get her eating some silkworms or hornworms, she might
like those & they are healthy.
Let us know how she is doing.

What if the gout is caused from too much d3, is that reversible? Would her snagging her thimb nail and first nail on something causing them to break cause swelling? (Causing the nails to break) The swelling had gone down some and I started her on the black cherry juice last night.

Hello,

If gout is caused by supplemental or husbandry issues that is pseudo gout & almost always reversible. If there is an injury of the nail bed,
that could potentially irritate the tissue causing swelling. Sometimes hypervitaminosis D can cause toxicities leading to soft tissue swellings.
The black cherry juice should help if her kidneys do need some help. Hopefully the swelling will go down even more.

Keep us posted on her!

What is a quick way to warm up a cold beardie? His heating element went out overnight and now he's very cold.

Clapton is acclimating okay I think. He's quick as lightning so I'm not sure how much I should bring him out of his house yet. He's not at all interested in his salad though. I wonder if I should change what I'm giving him. Least he's eating his crickets.

Things to do:
Buy calcium powder
Material to raise surface for basking spot
Scenery decals for back of tank
