Well right now my bearded dragon, Margery, is in a 20 gallon tank. Sad enough to say, I just return from a month away, and it seems my sister fed him well since he has grown so large I didn't recognize him at first. Well so now I am moving him into my larger tank( 48 in long x 18 wide x20 inches tall. When I bought if off my neighbor they said it is a 70 gallon tank I am not sure exactly but it is really big. I am moving Margery into it with in the next couple weeks, the sooner the better. I have a repti-sun 10 which says the bearded dragon needs to be with in 20 inches of the light. Do you think it will be good if I place the light on top of the cage's metal mesh or does it need to be in the cage?
I think it is better to mount them inside the cage. I used those stick on mounting things that are made by 3M, I was worried at first that it would fall off but it is working like a charm. And I bought a really cheap fixture from walmart in the hardware section. I did put some tinfoil over the top of the back half of the viv so the light is reflected down and not shining all over my living room, and the basking lamp is towards the front right side.

Can I see a picture of this please? Thanks in advance either way. Right now he is like 8-10 inches mattering where he basks from his uv but with the new set up I am not sure on how to do it
sorry it took so long to respond, here are some photos. This cage is pretty bare I know, but it is a work in progress. It is 40 gallon breeder size but I really want to get him something bigger without spending a fortune.
