My beardie is currently over coming long term stress (she is a month and a half new to me, i bought her from a family that didn't have time for her). I bought her and she appeared healthy, for a month she appeared healthy, until I got her a Sun Glo heat lamp, while this could be completely coincidental, I was still wondering if any one has ever had any issues with this light? 50w, tight beam, sun glow, exo terra, basking lamp. She gets stress marks on her belly when ever she is under the light and it seems to have changed her colors dramatically darker. I just need to know if anyone has had issues so I can try and figure out what the issue is. She has a brand new uvb bulb, which is the same one the vets use and the best in the three surrounding cities Repzilla something or other, and I do not believe it is the issue at all, the Sun Glo though I am taking into deep consideration. The temp says it only gets to 90 some degrees, with a digital thermometer w/probe, but when I pick her up she is very dark and very warm. I take her out and let her run on the ground and she loses the stress marks and lightens to her normal, but not cold, color.
I have never heard of anyone having a problem with a basking bulb. It is usually the uvb's that have the problems.
Maybe if you could answer a few questions about your set up we can figure out what might be bothering your beardie.
First of all... what brand is the digital thermometer you are using?
When you take the basking temps are you putting the probe directly on the basking spot under the basking bulb?
How long are you leaving the probe on the basking spot before reading the temp?
what is the distance from your basking bulb to your beardie?
What is the exact brand and type uvb you are using?
What is the distance between the uvb and your beardie?
